I recently attended the ISES Schmooze Fest and found it to be a thoroughly worthwhile event. The event was fashioned by installing suppliers at different tables, while attendees were then free to move from table to table, gathering information. One was given only a few minutes at each table before having to rotate at the sound of a bell. I imagine a bit like speed dating but with better odds of finding a match.

I am a Manager of Special Events and Promotions, so am always looking for suppliers with whom I can work in multiple markets. What I found at the Schmooze Fest were friendly and knowledgeable suppliers who provided me with a tremendous amount of information and ideas in a very relaxed atmosphere. They ranged from makers of customized blinking buttons to unique balloon creations to scrumptious food caterers, and everything in between.

By the end of the evening, I had made some great new contacts and discovered a whole new world of ideas. I would highly recommend anyone in the special events industry to attend this event. Not only do you have the opportunity to meet new suppliers who can assist you with an event, but you forge new relationships which is so key in this industry.
