Premier special events venue hosts TSEvents' tenth year celebration
From 26 years in shuttered and abandoned silence, to one glorious year of memorable celebrations, The Carlu -- Toronto's renowned special events venue and best example of recent heritage restoration -- has forever changed the social, corporate and cultural landscape of Canada's most thriving metropolis. Designed by French architect, Jacques Carlu in the Art Moderne style, the former Eaton's College Park has achieved worldwide recognition for its landmark restoration. To mark its first year of success, The Carlu partnered with TSEvents -- celebrating their own ten years as Toronto's resource for corporate and event planners -- to host a special gala celebration on June 21, entitled "The Art of the Party."
"We are both humbled and proud of the support we have received from the community since the first days of construction, to the beginning of our second year," comments Jeffry Roick, managing partner, The Carlu. "The continued popularity of The Carlu as Toronto's top special events venue reaffirms our belief that there is a strong desire to celebrate in the heart of our great city."
In keeping with the hottest colour trend of the season and to celebrate the first official day of summer, the "Art of the Party" anniversary celebration offered subtle infusions of pink, from the décor to the signature cocktails to the anticipated guests' attire. In addition, a quirky, runway-style show entertained in style, with floating buffets and the forgotten Supper Club, along with big band sounds and a DJ. TSEvents presented 8-foot images from the directory highlighting core elements of the event planning industry.
TSEvents is thrilled to be celebrating 10 years as the bible of the events industry. "In selecting a venue for TSEvents' tenth anniversary, we wanted something that reflected the changing trends in Toronto's corporate and special events planning community," explains Pamela Smith, publisher, TSEvents Resource Directory. "The Carlu represents a classic example of the shift away from traditional banquet halls and other similar venues, and the movement towards unique non-typical venues that contribute to the overall impact of the event. We're thrilled to be celebrating TSEvents' milestone with The Carlu, truly a perfect location for demonstrating the art of the party, and we look forward to sharing future successes."
Perhaps the greatest reason for The Carlu's instantaneous success can be attributed to the unique ambience set forth by each of the painstakingly-restored rooms. The Round Room -- The Carlu's most celebrated room -- features the original mural painted by Carlu's wife, Natacha. In addition, the original Lalique fountain in the room's center presents a breathtaking highlight. The Sky Room, with its shimmering candle wall, offers unique romantic lighting; the Clipper Room oozes masculine charm, suitable for a range of corporate functions. The Grand Foyer allows guests to step off the elevator and back in time, while the walls of the Auditorium echo with the sounds of musical greats past.
Managing partner, Mark Robert adds, "It's astounding that for close to 30 years, the doors to this remarkable space remained tightly shut and since our grand re-opening just over a year ago, 75,000 guests have been welcomed through its doors. We know that Lady Eaton would be proud and we hope that this rewarding first year is a hint of what's to come for The Carlu."
