Hollywood Doing Their Part to Help Children Who Have Special Needs

20th Century Fox has teamed up with Variety – The Children’s Charity to help raise funds for BC children who have special needs. Starting January 1, Variety will be selling their Gold Heart pins, featuring the design based on the new adventure film from 20th Century Fox - ERAGON. Pins will sell for $3 at various retail outlets across the province.

On International Gold Heart Day, February 14th people all around the world wear the Gold Heart on their sleeve to show their support of children who have special needs. The pins can be purchased at the Variety office in Burnaby or at BMO Bank of Montreal, Ben Moss Jewellers, Buy-Low Foods, Cineplex Entertainment, London Drugs, MarketPlace IGA, Pharmasave, select RBC Financial Group branches, and select credit unions and insurance brokers of BC.

Gold Heart pins are also sold through schools around the province. Every school that participates in the Gold Heart Day campaign will have its name entered in a draw. The winning school will receive $500 to aid in their school's projects.

Barbara Stewart, Variety’s Gold Heart chair and member for 35 years, spearheaded the campaign in BC. “The Gold Heart pin campaign is a great fundraiser that not only raises significant funds for BC’s children, but also raises awareness about the good work that Variety does. The pin is something people can wear proudly every day to show they care for BC’s kids.”

The Gold Heart Campaign is one of the largest fundraising efforts worldwide. Its symbol is a gold-coloured, heart-shaped pin. The Variety Gold Heart campaign is now in its 17th year and has raised over $2.4 million in BC alone.
