Hala Events Makes Global Splash with New Event
Inaugural Triathlon Series Stirs Worldwide Interest
Hala Events & Communications Inc. is pleased to announce its inaugural Island Triathlon Series™ (ITS) , a newly created and exciting event slated for December 1, 2007, on the magnificent island of Turks & Caicos. The original-distance triathlon coined The Island Eighty™ features a 1-mile swim, a 66-mile bike and a 13-mile run that will take place in Providenciales on the exotic and world-renowned beaches of Grace Bay.
The event has already hosted its launch in grand style with a press conference and social reception this past April at The Alexandra Hotel, the official race hotel in Providenciales. The press conference and invitation-only reception garnered the attention of local media as well as elected officials and representatives from the Turks & Caicos Islands Tourism Board.
The Island Triathlon Series™ has also landed worldwide television placement for its destination sporting event, currently comprising broadcast agreements in over 85 countries, and growing. Hala Bissada, President and CEO of Hala, Inc. remarked, “This triathlon series is established as an international athletic event, one which has always been designed to be more than a race. Now, with our global television commitments, it is a worldwide experience that can be shared with athletes and non-athletes alike.”
In addition to creating and producing the Island Triathlon Series, Hala Events & Communications Inc. has established itself as an international, award-winning event firm based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hala Inc. prides itself on being a leader in the event management sector, specializing in creating unique and original events benefiting charities and incorporating a charitable component to their event. In this regard, the ITS event will host its signature fundraising initiative “Tri4Dignity™.” TRI4Dignity provides athletes with an opportunity to achieve a personal goal and off-set their travel expenses while also raising funds and awareness for Dignitas International - a global, medical, and humanitarian organization focused on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
ITS is planning to expand its series to other island destinations, adding a new island each year over the next 3-4 years, culminating with its own World Championship in 2010.
