Edible British Columbia to Open Retail Store
Edible British Columbia is pleased to announce it will be opening its first retail store in the heart of Vancouver’s foodie mecca, Granville Island, in June 2006.
Just over one year from the inception of the company, Edible B.C. is very proud to be expanding its services to include a retail shop that will sell the best artisan food products and culinary wares from around the province of British Columbia.
In additional to the retail space, the store will also house Granville Island’s only permanent demonstration kitchen where visiting chefs and artisans from around the province will be able to drop by and invite patrons of the market to learn what they do

with all the amazing products produced right in our backyard. When the demonstration area is not being used by chefs, the shops owners, Eric Pateman and Cecilia Yong may be whipping up goodies that will be used to showcase many of the products available in the shop. There will also be regularly scheduled cooking classes with some of the top chefs from the city and around the province.
You can also expect the store to provide unique edible gift baskets suitable for both visitors and locals, cooking classes, live web-broadcasts of our demos and classes, and much, much more!
Some of the products that may be available include:
- Fraser Valley Artisan Cheeses
- Thomas Haas Chocolates
- Take-Out Meals from Vij’s, Les Amis Du Fromage & Quince
- Seasons Products by Mark Filatow from Okanagan Wines
- Vinegars from Marley Farms on Vancouver Island
The store will be located in the space vacated earlier this year by the Okanagan Wine Shop, right next door to South China Seas and across from the Stock Market. It will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm
What else is Edible British Columbia about? The name says it all.
We’re for people who like to eat and want to learn more about B.C.’s food culture. Eating is something we all need to do when we travel and food is a major part of the experience. This is culinary tourism. Edible B.C. is your culinary guide to the province. We’re here for every sort of ‘tourist’: corporate clients, meeting and conference groups, locals who like to dine around Greater Vancouver and out-of-towners who want to cut to the chase and discover the local hot spots, the best dining rooms and sample from one of Vancouver’s many world-class Asian restaurants. In other words, we’re the experts on the very best of food and wine that Vancouver and B.C. has to offer.
Our current menu of activities has been created to appeal to individuals and groups as diverse as visitors looking for an out-of-the-ordinary culinary experience to corporations and businesses desiring team building sessions, client entertainment, incentive awards, milestone celebrations, and staff parties. Event planners will find us a great source for everything from spousal programs to customized excursions. We’re on tap for social events like pre-wedding parties, reunions, girl or guy getaways and more. Packages can be customized for weddings, anniversaries, or any commemorative occasion.
